Cranston Goat |
“The key to success? Just be a nice guy and don't let anyone get your goat…”
Achievements: Oscars for Casablanca, Grumpy Old Men Style: Classic Jive, Tap Nationality: American Based in: Palm Springs CA Celebrity Partner: Roxanne Cranston first got his start way back in the heydays of Vaudeville with his partner Gabby Goat ( no relation). Their act was successful for years until the popularity of films caused the decline of live performances. This led to a parting of the ways and Cranston set out for Hollywood alone to try his luck . On his journey west he met another hopeful, Francis Albacore. Cranston and Francis spent years trying to break into film as a dance duo, but found their prospects in Hollywood less than promising. Wearied with rejection, Cranston and Francis finally gave in and let their official partnership dissolve. Cranston soon retreated into himself, becoming bitter and casting out those around him, with the exception of Francis. This 'dark period' ended when fellow actor Daniel Cat reminded him of what he came here for. After the big break at the Manns Theater, Cranston was getting offers left and right. He starred in Casablanca with his old partner Francis. He was nominated for an Academy for his role as L.B. Jefferies in 'Rear Window', but unfortunately, lost out Brando in 'On the Waterfront'. He also did a few television short episodes, most with Hitchcock’s show, 'Hitchcock Presents'. Cranston's versatility has earned him credits in blockbuster films, including 'The Witches of Eastwick, The Mask, and Twister. Cranston's latest challenge role is Ebenezer Scrooge in the newest version of 'A Christmas Carol'. There’s some talk already of his Oscar nomination for this movie. |
