Welcome fellow music lover and Cats Don't Dance fan! You're at the info page for the first CDD fan art project of 2007 called :
'Silly Love Songs'
There's a gazillion love
songs out there and I'm sure everyone has a favorite. In addition, Valentines
Day is coming up fast...Still with me? It gets better...in this project we're
going to illustrate our favorite love songs using the CDD cast. The deadline is
midnight, Feb. 25th, and all the pics will be in a separate fan art gallery on
the Unofficial Cats Don't Dance Fansite shortly thereafter.
This is a pretty free form project,
but here's some guidelines to help keep everyone on their musical track:
The Art
Content -
Keep all visuals at a G - PG level please. If you are uncertain I
STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU EMAIL A DESCRIPTION OF YOUR IDEA OR A PRELIMINARY
SKETCH. <:)
At least ONE CDD CHARACTER must be prominently featured in the image. Aside from
that requirement you are free to cast any other toon, or fan character you like,
as many as you like. No assignments..this is very free form.
You must include a stanza or phrase from your chosen song in the
image..preferably one that enhances the visuals and it MUST NOT HAVE ANY
PROFANITY.
The song title and performer credits can also be included.
Technical stuff-
Each person's illustration stands on it's own so make
as complete & complex an illustration as you wish. Nothing is going to be
compiled..
Use whatever media you like, from 2B pencil to 3D, to Flash. Artists of ALL
ability levels are welcomed.
Image manipulations are also accepted, but there must some evidence of
alteration. In short, you can't just grab a screencap from the CDD movie and
slap some lyrics on it. >:)
Do NOT try and paste an entire song lyric. or most likely you'll have no room
for picture.
Choose your fonts wisely - if the lyric snippet is unreadable, it's kinda
annoying. <:)
The target size for the pics will be at maximum , 700 pixels tall
X
900 px or wide. I will happily resize and optimize large pics for you if
haven't software that will do it and my email can easily handle up to 8 mg.
files.
The Songs
Content-
It must be a love song. Any
genre - country, blues, pop, musicals, movies, ..even rap is fine. Any emotional
tone is fine..mushy, angsty, funny, or profound.
Avoid works laden with excessive violence or the obscene.
Where & How to send
your pics
Please email your submissions to me, Shelley at catsdontdance@comcast.net
by midnight, FEB. 25th. If you are a member of the CDD_II yahoogroup or DA, just
posting them there does not
ensure pickup.
Please include the following info in the email with your pic:
The name or the alias
you wish to be credited with.
If you'd like a link in your credits.. indicate an email
address or website. This is totally optional, so if you don't want any, that's
fine.
The song title and performer credits, - for my information
mainly in case it's not in the picture. If that is the case I may put it in a
mouseover tag on the pic thumbnail.
That's all there is to
it! If you want to join in or have
more questions, just drop me an email. I'm not gonna have a sign up sheet,
but it'd be nice to have some idea of what turnout to expect. Another reason is
I send out reminder emails as the deadline draws near via a temporary list..
